EVENT: $500 in Vouchers and Free emission testing for up to 525 vehicals

Saturday, September 10 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. San Joaquin Delta College, Shima 2 Parking lot will be hosting a free vehicle emissions test for u to 525 vehicals with San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and Valley CAN.

Stockton-area drivers who have owned their car for at least six months get a a free vehicle emissions test and If the vehicle doesn’t pass the test but can be repaired, the driver will receive a voucher for up to $500 in emission related repairs at a local Gold Shield-certified smog check station. More than two thousand cars have been repaired to state smog standards by Valley Clean Air Now’s Tune In & Tune Up program since 2003.

 According to Jose Marin, a representitive of Tune In & Tune Up, “(Tune in Tune Up) has been shown to be among the most cost-effective methods to reduce vehicle emissions attempted to date in California.”

 In partnership with the Foundation for California Community Colleges and its VRRRM program, the Valley Air District has been able to expand this successful program thanks to funding from the Reformulated Gasoline Settlement Fund. Fifteen of these events will be held throughout the Valley over the next eighteen months.
