Michoacans May Vote Abroad

In a eight hour event on Saturday May 7th, the Comision Honorifica Mexicana (Honorific Mexican Commission) called upon natives of the Mexican State Michoacan in a non-partisan push to register voters abroad. The goal was to promote an innovative approach to voting abroad by Michocans for the election of November 13, 2011.

“Voting is a right and an obligation,” Carlos Gonzales Gutierrez, General Consulate of Mexico, Sacramento Region, reminded everyone.

The Michoacan Institute’s statistics demonstrate that there are approximately 108 thousand people, with a national voting credential from Michoacan reside in the U.S. “We are ready with 3,000 forms,” explained Leonardo Tenorio Cansino Representing the Institute, “All Michoacanos with a voter electorate card may register and participate.”
Registration will be open until July 6th. Everyone interested in registering may request forms at the Sacramento Mexican General Consulate Offices, at the Mexican Commission
