STOCKTON, CA – On Saturday, April 30, 2011, the Women’s Center of San Joaquin County will host its 4th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event at Banner Island Ballpark, Home of the Stockton Ports. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® challenges men to walk one mile in a pair of women’s shoes to raise awareness and funds to support the Women’s Center’s services for sexual assault victims.
The purpose of the march is to create community awareness and involve men in ending rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Proceeds from this event will help to support the Women’s Center’s sexual assault services.
Last year, more than 100 courageous men participated in the march, helping to raise funds and awareness, and encouraging more men to speak out against rape and sexual assault. Some of the brave men included:

Police officers, firemen, businessmen, elected officials, community leaders, fathers and husbands – men of all ages from all walks of life – participated in the walk, showing their commitment to ending sexualized violence in our community. The Women’s Center anticipates even more walkers this year.
Registration for the 4th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Men’s March in Stockton will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the walk will step off at 9:00 a.m. Registration is $35 for men who will require shoes and only $25 for men who bring their own shoes. All walkers will receive a free T-shirt and a voucher for a free ticket to a Stockton Ports regular season home game.
