WorkNet to Hold its Annual Job Fair

Also present will be vocational schools, colleges, and community-based organizations. WorkNet staff will be available to critique resumes and to assist job seekers submit applications online.

“With a current unemployment rate of over 18 percent in the County, our Job and Resource Fair is essential to the job seekers in this area”, stated San Joaquin County WorkNet Executive Director John Solis. “We don’t just provide prospective employers, we provide options. Whatever their barrier to sustainable employment is, we strive to supply a resource to address it.”

San Joaquin County WorkNet operates under the auspices of the San Joaquin County Workforce Investment Board (WIB), comprised of business, education, labor, and other agency leaders appointed by the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. Its purpose is to set policy and oversee the one-stop service delivery system, known as WorkNet, for workforce development funded by the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and other resources.

Through the WIB, employment and training programs are designed and managed at the local level where the needs of business and individuals are best understood. WorkNet Centers offer universal access to employment services including referrals to jobs, training, education, and other services to eliminate barriers to employment.
