STOCKTON,CA – Fed up with Forbes Magazine a group of proud Stocktonians have gathered together to plan an event to show the world that Stockton is not miserable—it’s magnificent!
The event is hosted by the Miracle Mile Improvement District and will be held on Saturday April 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm on Pacific Avenue at Tuxedo Court. The Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic and a stage will be erected in the middle of the street. Volunteer entertainers will sing, dance and tell jokes to the citizens of Stockton,
while volunteer artist are busy painting a wall mural on the corner of Pacific and Adams Street.
Seven event logos were submitted by local artists and the committee chose the logo that will be printed on commemorative T-shirts printed by California Tees. A crane will hoist a photographer above the crowd and a historic photograph will be taken to remember the day. The photo will be enlarged and sent to Forbes magazine along with petitions signed by citizens that proclaim, “Forbes is wrong, their criteria are flawed, Stockton is Magnificent!”
Non-profit organizations have been invited to set up information booths and KJOY and KWIN will be providing live feed from the event. The City Council will proclaim April as Stockton is Magnificent month. The Record will be on hand to document the event, along with a videographer and several photographers.
T-shirts will be available for purchase at the Asparagus Festival through the Miracle Mile Merchants booth.
