Stockton, CA – The City of Stockton announced that they are accepting applications to fill four (4) vacancies on the City Council Water Advisory Group.  One of the vacancies is from resignation of a term that is not due to expire until December 12, 2012. Three other vacancies are due to the term expiration’s of Gary Giovanetti, Andrea Hurford and Doug Kuehne. The city asks that all applications be submitted by Monday, January 31, 2011.

According to the City of Stockton, “The Water Advisory Group serves as an advisory body to the City Council Water Committee about current and future water issues impacting City of Stockton water, wastewater and storm water utilities, including review of the Municipal Utilities Department monthly Operations and Maintenance.”

Meetings of the Water Advisory Group are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the City of Stockton Municipal Utilities Department, 2500 Navy Drive.  The committee may meet more than once a month, depending on content and schedule considerations.  Members serve without compensation.

The city of Stockton adds that members of the committee prepare to sign economic interest disclosures under the City’s Conflict of Interest Code, Category 1, and are be required to show transparency in any economic interests held within the City of Stockton, as mandated by the California’s Fair Political Practices Commission.

To qualify, applicants must live in one of the Stockton Municipal Utilities’ three utility service areas.  Maps of the service areas are available at
