Rain didn’t damp Stockton’s Christmas spirit

Stockton, CA / Bilingual Weekly

There was plenty Christmas-ing around Stockton this past Saturday, December 4, 2010.Despite the intermittent rain, kids and families visited the reindeer at Stonecreek Village (click to see pictures,) and hundreds came to play on the Miracle Mile’s snow, to visit with Santa or listen to live music (click here to see pictures)

Later that evening —and already under a steady rain— fifty-plus beautifully lighted boats left Light 39, starting their cruise up the Stockton Deep Water Channel. At the same time, upstream and at the Weber Point Event’s Center, Stockton Mayor Ann Johnston pushed the switch that lighted the City’s official Christmas Tree. Shortly after, hundreds and hundreds braved the rain at the north and south shore by the ballpark and marina, the Waterfront Warehouse, Weber Point and the McLeod Lake waterfront rails to watch the gilded boats reaching downtown Stockton. (see pictures) The water parade —dubbed Delta Reflections— has heralded the beginning of the Holiday Season in Stockton for the last 31 years.
